In-person and Online guitar lessons at the Guitar Woodshed.

I began teaching guitar and bass in 1989. From 1989 to 2000, I taught in local music stores and schools in Western New York and the Hudson Valley. I founded the guitar woodshed in Niagara Falls, New York in 2000. My goal at the guitar woodshed is to offer the highest-quality guitar and music instruction in Niagara County, NY. I believe lessons should be fun, inspiring, and honor the individual learner. My former students number in the thousands, represent all walks of life, and have all shaped my musical journey.

In 2010, I began teaching online guitar lessons as a way to keep in contact with my students from the National Guitar Workshop. Skype and Zoom allowed us to transcend distance and my student body included players from throughout the United States. Over the course of the last decade, I have refined and leveraged my use of technology to offer a high-quality learning experience in the comfort of your home. Stereo audio, high-definition video with multiple camera angles, customized tab, notation, and chord charts in .pdf for further study of your lesson, original backing tracks for jamming, and the ability for you to record your lesson for further study are all part of my online teaching practice.

Here is an article I wrote on Blues Guitar playing for Premier Guitar Magazine:

“The guy is very good. He even has his own guitar.”

— Community College Student instructor review, circa 2006.
